Travel to the Coast Guard Academy

The Academy is located in New London, Connecticut, the only intermodal transportation hub in New England. Trains, buses, taxis, and ferries all converge about 2.5 miles south of the Academy, and less than a mile from Route 95, the interstate corridor. A taxi from the transportation center costs about $10 one way. Enterprise Car Rental will normally pick guests up at the New London transportation hub during business hours.

By Car

Take exit 83 off Route 95 to get to the main gate.

By Air

T.F. Green Airport in Warwick, Rhode Island and Bradley International Airport in Hartford, Connecticut are each about an hour away, providing the closest commercial airline service to the Academy. A rental car is recommended to get to the Academy from Bradley. Use the Interlink from T.F. Green to the Providence Amtrak train station to take the train the New London, or rent a car.

The Groton New London Airport (KGON) is a public-use general aviation (non-commercial) airport located about seven miles from New London. Rental cars are available.

Amtrak provides train service to New London from points north and south. The Cross Sound Ferry provides service between Long Island, New York and New London.

An inexpensive taxi ride to the Academy is readily available from Union Station where the ferry, train and buses converge.
