LT Rick Scott

Rick ScottThank you for your interest in the United States Coast Guard Academy. I am honored to serve as the Admission Officer for the Mid-Atlantic region and I look forward to working with you to learn more about becoming a cadet at the Academy and an officer in the world’s best Coast Guard!

Originally from central Massachusetts, I earned an appointment to the Coast Guard Academy Scholars Program in 2012 which prepared me to succeed the very next year as a cadet at CGA. I went on to graduate from the Coast Guard Academy in 2017 with a B.S. in Government with a focus on Public Policy and Law. While at the Academy I participated in numerous vocal groups, played on the ice hockey team, and served as the President of the class of 2017.

Upon graduation, I reported to CGC ESCANABA in Boston, Massachusetts as a Deck Watch Officer and the Assistant Operations Officer. I completed several multi-mission deployments ranging from Living Marine Resources enforcement in the North Atlantic to Counter Drug operations in the Eastern Pacific.

Following my tour on ESCANABA I accepted orders as the Executive Officer onboard CGC RAYMOND EVANS in Key West, Florida. Onboard the cutter I was responsible for personnel administration, supply, safety, and training, while also balancing my roles as the lead Boarding Officer and ship’s Navigator. My most meaningful experience yet came in the aftermath of Hurricane Dorian where I had the opportunity to lead several of the U.S.’s initial land based search and rescue missions across the Bahama Islands, thus fulfilling the humanitarian mission that initially drew me to a career in the Coast Guard.

After leaving Key West I was excited to return to the Coast Guard Academy to help recruit and mentor the next generation of Coast Guard officers. I have gained invaluable personal and professional experiences during my time in the Coast Guard and I owe it all to the foundations I received while at the Academy. I look forward to working with you through the application process and beyond.
