Murrieta, California Major: Management
1/c Reginald Robiskie

I chose the Coast Guard Academy because it provided me with endless opportunities. At the same time, I have the chance to follow in my dad’s footsteps serving my country.

My leadership roles at the Academy include Alfa Company Executive Officer and football team captain. I am second in command for Alfa Company, assisting the Commander and ensuring the day-to-day success of the cadets in Alfa Company.

The football team captain is a slightly different leadership role. On the football field I am not only a leader by example but, I am a role model to the underclassmen on the team. Being a team captain means self-accountability and teamwork. The other two team captains and I address problems, instill motivation, and unite a group of young men to come together and reach a common goal…to win. The Academy, from day one, has prepared me for these leadership roles teaching me effective communication, teamwork, and intrinsic motivation to lead a group of people, in Chase Hall and on the football field.

Upon graduating, I would like to be a pilot and attend flight training in Pensacola, Florida. I have wanted to be a pilot since freshman year of high school, and that opportunity is hopefully in the near future. Not only does the Coast Guard give you the opportunity, it gives you superior flight training and experience.
