The Academy is pleased to host the Respect & Inclusion Summer Experience (RISE), for newly reporting cadets.

RISE is an informal, family orientation to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. Held virtually, RISE will help you make the transition to life as a new cadet, get to know classmates and New London better, and offer practical tips to your parents. Please consider attending if you:

  • Are the first in your family to attend college
  • Have not visited the Academy before
  • Are a citizen of another country, or have lived most of your life outside the U.S.
  • Belong to a group historically underrepresented at the Academy
  • Have concerns about the transition and prefer a gradual introduction

From Civilian to Military: Hear from parents and cadets who share their experience and advice on transitioning to military life, and supporting each other.
