The Coast Guard is seeking applicants for the Marine Industry Training Program. Open to qualifying officers, this program provides participants with hands-on internship experience with maritime industry organizations to enhance expertise
in five areas of study: The merchant marine, investigations, port safety & security, marine environmental protection and waterways management.
These unique internships offer valuable professional speciality development. Problem solve with commercial cruise ships or offshore oil companies. Partake in a ship-rider internship with other investigative entities if the Investigations Industry
Training concentration is your area of interest. Expand your knowledge of cyber security issues or get a handle on facility permitting in the Port Safety and Security Industry Training track, or prepare yourself for pollution response such as
oil spill removal with the Marine Environmental Protection Industry Training. Finally, learn the “ins” and “outs” of the Maritime Transportation System including waterways, ports and intermodal connections aboard a ferry vessel or other means
with the Waterways Management Industry Training discipline.
Internships for the Marine Industry Training Program run from 4 months to 1 year, depending on the specific training program. Eligible officers are encouraged to submit their applications by August 17, 2018.
