The CG's First African American Female Admiral Addresses Cadets NEW LONDON, Conn. -- Rear Admiral Erica Schwartz speaks to cadets at the Coast Guard Academy on a variety of topics, ranging from becoming the first female African-American admiral in the Coast Guard to leadership challenges and racial issues, Feb. 22, 2018.

Schwartz is the Director of Health, Safety and Work-Life. She is responsible for the Coast Guard's health care system of 42 clinics and 150 sick bays, as well as operational and off-duty mishap prevention, response and investigation.
