MegMarie Stanchi

Fairfax, VA - Class of 2020 Major: Civil Engineering
MegMarie Stanchi

Hi everyone! My name is MegMarie Stanchi and I am from Fairfax, Virginia (about 30 minutes from Washington, D.C.). I have an older sister and brother who have already graduated from college, making me the youngest of the family. I love playing lacrosse, traveling, participating in outdoor activities, and learning about the environment.

I originally came to the Academy as a Marine and Environmental Science major. I have always been interested in marine life and how the environment works but I decided to change to Civil Engineering second semester of 4/c year. I realized that I wanted to be able to fix certain issues that arise with the environment, and Civil Engineering has an Environmental Engineering piece that interested me. I was attracted to the Academy because of my love of the ocean, but also because of its challenges and the Coast Guard’s mission. I wanted to go to school where I would be tested not only academically, but as a person emotionally and physically. I cannot believe two years have already gone by. I have learned so much about myself and what I want to do in the future, in addition to meeting such amazing people.

I have joined many clubs to keep me busy here, and I love being a part of the women’s lacrosse team. These last two years at the Academy have taught me so much, and I would love to share that with you! If you have any questions about me or the Academy, feel free to contact me at [email protected]! Go Bears!
