Mary Westkott

Mary WestkottMary Westkott serves as the Assistant Swimming and Diving Coach for both the Men’s and Women’s Swim Teams. Westkott trains athletes in the butterfly, individual medley and backstroke and develops dryland training programs to improve the teams' overall athleticism.

Coach Westkott is a graduate of Springfield College, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and of Southern Connecticut State University, where she earned her Master of Science.

While at Springfield, Mary was a multiple DIII All-American Athlete as a member of the women’s swimming and diving team and currently holds the school record in the 200 yard Butterfly. Westkott also competed for the Springfield Pride as a member of the Women’s Track and Field team and was one of the first women at the school to compete in the pole vault. Today, Westkott participates in various triathlons and ironman competitions.

In addition to coaching, Westkott is an Instructor in the HPE Department, helps to revise and implement the Physical Fitness Exam (PFE), and works with the Leadership Development Center teaching wellness, and coordinating fitness testing. Westkott created the Officer Candidate School (OCS) Health and Physical Readiness curriculum.

Coach Westkott recently drafted educational lesson plans that are published in Lesson Planning for Secondary Physical Education: Meeting the National Standards and Grade-Level Outcomes (2016).
