Joshua Angelo A. Orbe

Mariveles, Bataan, Philippines - Class of 2023 Major: Government
Joshua Angelo A. Orbe

My name is Joshua Angelo A. Orbe. I am from Mariveles, Bataan, Philippines. I am a Government major and I participate in 23 activities at the Academy, my main ones being Windjammers and Glee Club. I applied to the Academy as an international cadet because I see all of this as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn, travel, and experience so much at the World's Best Coast Guard Academy.

My dad is an officer in the Philippine Navy. My mom is an instructor at a maritime academy. My sister, who is a year younger than me, studies political science at the University of the Philippines.

I am a traveler at heart. Growing up, because of the nature of my dad’s job, our family had to move many times. By the time I entered sixth grade, I had been to 7 schools. I started school in Australia and graduated from high school in England. By coming here, I hope to continue seeing more of the world, broadening my horizons and learning valuable lessons I hope to eventually bring back to the Philippines.

The one who encouraged me to look into the Coast Guard Academy was the Filipino International Cadet from the USCGA Class of 1992, my dad’s close friend and my godfather.
