Jonathan Harris, M.A., Lieutenant Commander, USCG

Jonathan HarrisLieutenant Commander Jonathan Harris reported to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in June 2017 for service as a Mathematics Instructor. A native of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Lieutenant Commander Harris joined the Coast Guard in 2001 after earning an appointment to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy's Class of 2005. Lieutenant Commander Harris is a permanent cutterman with multiple tours of sea duty including service as Deck Watch Officer aboard USCGC Valiant (WMEC 621), Commanding Officer of USCGC Pike (WPB 87365), a member of the summer training staff aboard USCGC Eagle (WIX 327), and most recently as Executive Officer of USCGC Kukui (WLB 203). Lieutenant Commander Harris’s other shore duty assignments include service in the U.S. Coast Guard Academy's Cadet Division as the Delta Company Officer.

Lieutenant Commander Harris is a 2010 Graduate of the Eisenhower Leadership Development Program, a joint program sponsored by the U.S. Military Academy and the Teachers' College of Columbia University. His educational achievements include a Bachelor of Science degree with High Honors from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, a Master of Arts in Social Organizational Psychology from Columbia University, and a Master of Arts in Statistics from Yale University.
