Jennifer Donohue

My name is Jennifer Donohue, and I will be a senior at South Western High School in Hanover, Pennsylvania. I am involved in Color Guard for the marching band. I am also on the varsity swim team and earned my first varsity letter my freshman year. My best event is the 100 yard breaststroke. Both activities have had a major impact on my life. They have created many friendships and opportunities to better myself throughout life. It is important to stay active if you want to have a healthy future and by staying involved in sports, clubs and other extracurriculars, I have found a joyful way to do so.

After high school, I hope to major in mechanical engineering at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (USCGA). It has been a dream of mine since 8th grade to pursue a life in the Coast Guard. The best way for me to do so is by attending the USCGA. My grandfather served in the Korean War and my great grandfather in WWII. My dad always wanted to serve but life took him in another direction so I want to follow the path he never could. I’ve looked at the other branches of the military and none of them really seemed like the right fit for me until I looked at the Coast Guard. Once I did, I instantly fell in love. The AIM program will help me demonstrate to the Academy that they should want me as much as I want them.
