ABOUT JACOB
My name is Jacob Cheeseman and I am from the great state of Colorado. I have been interested in the Coast Guard for a long time, visiting the Coast Guard Academy for the first time back in 8th grade. A few years later, I was back for Bears Day and AIM
in my junior year, two Cadet for a Day visits my senior year, and finally the big day: Day One in 2017!
I swam competitively (distance freestyler) and sailed a bit in my high school years, also becoming an Eagle Scout and doing work with my county’s Community Emergency Response Team. Now at the Academy, I am involved in other activities and in intercompany
(IC) sports. I am active in the Catholic community here, participating in Chaplain’s Office sponsored events such as St. Francis de Sales (SFDSS) and Scripture Study, also fulfilling various roles such as Eucharistic Minister during 4/c year and
SFDSS Communications Officer during 3/c year. I am also a member of the Mock Trial team and the Aviation Club.
Academically, I am an Operations Research and Computer Analysis major at the Academy. I really enjoy studying in the Mathematics Department and learning from the great faculty at USCGA. Militarily, I am a member of Charlie Company, which focuses on
teaching the Corps of Cadets the core values of Honor, Respect, and Devotion to Duty. For a week of my Swab Summer, I sailed on Barque Eagle from Quebec City to Halifax. For my 3/c summer, I was assigned to a 210 foot medium endurance cutter
for 11 weeks.
I am living my dream at the Academy and I hope I can help you live yours! Feel free to email me at
[email protected] if you have any questions about anything!
