
Dr. Elise Jones is an Assistant Professor of Management in the School of Leadership and Management at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. She holds a PhD in Management and Organization from the Carroll School of Management at Boston College, a master’s degree in Psychology from Connecticut College, and a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Brigham Young University. Dr. Jones’s research interests center on how people experience and navigate their identities, including the intersection of multiple intrapersonal identities. Her work also addresses dynamics surrounding meaningful work and the retention of military members. Dr. Jones is an active member of the Academy of Management, the Work and Family Researchers Network, the Positive Organizational Scholarship community, and the Transitions Research Group. Her work has been published in Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Perspectives, and Research in Organizational Change and Development.
Dr. Jones teaches courses in organizational behavior and leadership, human resource management, and organizational change. Dr. Jones was named civilian employee of the quarter at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in 2023. Prior to entering academia, Dr. Jones held various human resources, business strategy, and product management positions at multiple technology firms, including Microsoft. She enjoys spending time in nature with her family, making music, experiencing good food, and practicing her faith.
