Dan Rose

Dan RoseDr. Rose has worked at the Academy for over 20 years. Dan spent his first 15 years as head coach of the men’s and women’s track teams, earning 2006 NEWMAC Coach of the Year and 2008 USTFCCA New England Region Outdoor Track Coach of the Year honors following undefeated records in both the indoor and outdoor season. Dr. Rose continues his involvement with the sport as a member of the NCAA Track and Field Rules Committee.

As HPE Department Chair, Rose is responsible for the physical education program at the Academy. In 2014 Rose initiated the Physical Fitness Exam review which revamped fitness test protocols and scoring bringing them in line with current research in the movement science industry.

Dr. Rose coordinated the Academy’s nutritional assessment study, done in association with all federal service academies. This project ultimately yielded a “cadet-athlete fueling station” at the Academy.

Currently Rose is the Co-Principle Investigator of the Academy’s portion of the NCAA/DOD concussion study, part of the largest concussion study ever conducted. As the Senior Associate Athletic Director, Dan is the primary sport administrator for all varsity programs as well as the team administrator for the football program.

Dan earned a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and a master’s degree in athletic administration from Springfield College, and his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Connecticut in 2013.
