It’s crazy to think that I am almost done with 2/c year. As a 3rd and 4th class, my time at the Academy didn’t seem to go by fast in the moment. Maybe it’s something about being on the other half of the grade scale, but the weeks keep passing by and soon I’ll be reporting in to my firstie summer assignment! A summer I have been looking forward to since I was a 4/c. This summer is my last summer training experience before I graduate and do the real thing, and that’s pretty sweet.

This fall was my first time in Civil Engineering specific classes. It has been challenging academically, but through the hard work I have gotten to know the 2020 civils and teachers much better. Even though at times it is tough to balance school with other obligations, I really appreciate being a civil engineer, and an engineer in general. In my classes, we learn about civil engineering principles that apply to the Coast Guard and the civilian sector. It is really exciting to learn about all of the possibilities, and I am extremely happy with my choice to switch from MES to civil. It is rewarding to have the work you put in pay off, and my hard work has also made me appreciate the field that I will one day go in to.

Lastly, this semester is my third season playing lacrosse at the Academy. It is always exciting to see how far we can go with a new group of girls every year. This year we have learned a lot of lessons, and I am so proud to be a part of such a talented group of people on and off the field. I think it is extremely comforting to be on a sports team, or a part of any extracurricular group here at the Academy. It keeps you busy, is a great support environment, and it’s fun! Go Bears!
