Aija Brown

My name is Ajia Brown, and I will be a senior at Marine Science Magnet High School in Groton, Connecticut. I am serving as our senior class president and our student body president. I am a member of my school's National Honor Society and participate in the Interact  and Yearbook Clubs. Outside of school, I play sports for Fitch High School where I am captain of the varsity cross country, varsity basketball, and varsity track team. All of these activities taught me how to be a leader, and the importance of teamwork. I have made friendships and memories that will last a lifetime.

After high school, I hope to major in mechanical engineering at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (USCGA). It has always been a dream of mine to be in the Coast Guard, and I feel attending the Academy would be the perfect way to do so. I have many family members who have served in the Coast Guard and the stories that they tell about the experiences they have had sound amazing, and I would love to see for myself what life in the Coast Guard is like. The AIM program will give me an opportunity to see what it’s like to be a cadet, and for the Academy to see who I am and how I would be a good fit for their school.
