Bridge Resource Management (BRM)
To enhance and promote operational safety, bridge team coordination, and operational risk management throughout the cutter fleet. Graduates of this course will apply the principles of Bridge Resource Management and Operational Risk Management during both operational planning and mission execution in order to prevent or reduce mishaps. Although not pipeline, this course is required by all operations officers and operations petty officers serving aboard non-major cutters.

BRM Scope
This is a four-day training course designed to prepare personnel to meet the demands of an operations officer or an operations petty officer billet on classes of cutters other than WMSL, WHEC, and WMEC. Instructional topics include operational risk management, principles of bridge resource management, crew endurance management, mission planning, and the application of navigation rules. This course meets the requirements for annual ORM refresher training as required by the Operational Risk Management Instruction, COMDTINST 3500.3.
