The Leadership Development Center offers more than 20 leadership courses to over 5,000 Officer, Enlisted, Reservist, and Civilian Coast Guard personnel annually. We also offer technical skills training to members assigned to command cadre positions aboard cutters, small boat stations, and marine safety security teams. Training occurs at one of three training sites (located in New London, Connecticut, Petaluma, California, and Yorktown, Virginia) or through exportable training held in the field at various units.
Our courses have received military programs evaluation by the American Council on Education and have received recommended semester hours credit in the lower-division baccalaureate/associate degree category and/or upper-division baccalaureate category. See list of recommended credits. For any questions concerning ACE credits for Coast Guard courses, contact the Registrar's Office at the U.S. Coast Guard Institute.
Our mission is to educate, develop, train, and inspire leaders of character.
