Stonington Lodge

Dedicated in October 1972 by directors of the Coast Guard Academy Foundation, Shipmate Lodge, also known as Stonington Lodge, was the first building to be erected at the Stonington Recreation Area. The building houses two stone fireplaces, a game room, a social room, a kitchen and an upper observation area with seating. The main room has a big-screen television with DirecTV, DVD player and surround sound. Casual furniture and side tables, as well as several portable tables and chairs, are available.

Two unisex restrooms are located next to the main room and have access from both inside and out.

Barbeque grills and picnic tables are provided for outside entertaining. Two sand volleyball courts, a basketball court, climbing wall and large playing field, used primarily for Coast Guard Academy Rugby games, round out the immediate area surrounding the Lodge.

A paved parking area can accommodate dozens of vehicles.

The Coast Guard Foundation’s offices are attached to Shipmate Lodge, but are secured with separate entrances.

For more information, please contact Ms. Christy Rose via email or by calling (860) 444-8280.
