LCDR Sabra was commissioned in the U. S. Coast Guard after graduating with honors from the Coast Guard Academy in 1999 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. His first assignment was as an Engineer Officer in Training and Damage Control Assistant on board CGC Northland (WMEC 904) in Portsmouth, Virginia from June 1999 to May 2001. He then attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he graduated in May 2003 with dual masters degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. He was assigned to COMDT (CG-4B) as the Surface Technical Representative for the design and construction of the National Security Cutter from June 2003 to May 2006. He was then assigned as the Engineer Officer on board CGC Seneca (WMEC 906) in Boston, Massachusetts from June 2006 to August 2009. He then served the Executive Officer, Naval Engineering Support Unit Boston from August 2009 until January 2012. After Coast Guard Modernization initiatives, he was then moved over to become the Industrial Manager for Industrial Production Facility Boston until July 2013. LCDR Sabra reported to the Coast Guard Academy as a rotating military faculty member in the Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering Section in July 2013.
