LT Sean Munnis graduated from the U. S. Coast Guard Academy in 2007 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. His first assignment was as an Engineer Officer in Training aboard USCGC Chase (WHEC 718) in San Diego, California. He then attended MIT where he graduated in May 2011 with dual master's degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. LT Munnis was then assigned as a Port Engineer for the Surface Forces Logistics Center’s Long Range Enforcer Product Line in Charleston, South Carolina where he was responsible for the project management of depot level maintenance on two 378-foot cutters (CGC Dallas and CGC Gallatin). He also acted as the Executive Officer at the Naval Engineering Support Unit Charleston until its decommissioning in 2012. LT Munnis is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of South Carolina and is a practicing Program Management Professional. LT Munnis reported to the USCGA in 2014.
