U.S. Coast Guard Academy LT Kempe graduated in 2005 with a B.S.E.E. with Honors from the Coast Guard Academy, having served as the President of the Cadet Glee Club and the Idlers. Following graduation, LT Kempe reported to the Pre-Commissioning Assembly Facility for USCGC Mackinaw (WLBB-30) and became a Plankowner once Mackinaw was commissioned. He served as a Deck Watch Officer and the Navigator on Mackinaw, before being selected for the Coast Guard Graduate Program. LT Kempe began studies at the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2007, ultimately earning a Masters of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering and a Masters of Business Administration. Subsequent to completing studies at Georgia Tech, LT Kempe reported to the Academy in 2009.
