LCDR Brian Maggi is originally from West Sayville, New York and is a 1996 graduate of Sayville High School and a 2000 graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering. He holds a Master of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Connecticut.  

Upon graduating from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy he was assigned aboard the USCGC Confidence (WMEC 619) homeported in Port Canaveral, Florida as a Deck Watch Officer and First Lieutenant. In 2002, he was transferred to USCGC Edisto (WPB 1313) as the Executive Officer. He then attended the University of Connecticut from August 2004 to December 2005. LCDR Maggi was then assigned to Civil Engineering Unit Providence in Rhode Island, where he worked in design as a Design Project Manager and in construction as a Construction Project Manager.
