Recruiting Welcome
Greetings! I am Lieutenant Commander Crist Holveck, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy Associate Director of Admissions for Recruiting. Thank you for your interest in the United States Coast Guard Academy and best of luck as you begin your journey in the nation’s finest military service academy.

I am originally from Arlington Heights, Illinois and have served in the United States Armed Forces for 17 years. I enlisted in the U.S. Navy in June, 1989. During my six-year enlistment, I enjoyed tours of duty upon numerous combatant seagoing ships, and was stationed in Florida, Virginia, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Italy. In 1994, I resigned my enlistment to pursue college at the University of Connecticut, and in 1998 graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science from the School of Physical Therapy. Not ready to stay in one place, I competed for and was honored by an invitation to the U.S. Coast Guard’s Officer Candidate School, where I earned my commission as an Officer in 2002. After two years of rigorous training, I graduated from the Naval Aviation Training Center in Pensacola, Florida.

A qualified H65 Dolphin helicopter pilot, I enjoyed back to back aviation tours in Miami, Florida (2004-2008) and Atlantic City, New Jersey (2008-2012). Between my Navy and Coast Guard tours, I have served in South and Central America, the Caribbean and the Mediterranean. My career has allowed me to participate in missions to respond to dozens of natural disasters, including the New Orleans disaster from Hurricane Katrina. During my tour in Atlantic City, I achieved the highest possible qualification as a rotary wing Flight Examiner, as well as held the dual-qualification of both a Search and Rescue and Rotary Wing Air Intercept pilot. My deployments routinely sent me to the Washington D.C. area to stand the watch for air interdiction as a part of a greater security team protecting our Nation’s Capital. My career has allowed me the opportunity to participate in nearly every mission the Coast Guard undertakes, including maritime law enforcement, search and rescue, boating safety, migrant interdiction, and environmental protection.

Currently, I have the opportunity to lead an inspiring and diverse recruiting team. The Admissions Officers have an amazing amount of personal experience and knowledge regarding the Coast Guard and the Coast Guard Academy. They are dedicated to the Coast Guard mission, and are standing by to assist you in your pursuit of an appointment to the Coast Guard Academy. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to your Admissions Officer!

Best of luck to you in all of your future endeavors!
