Hello! I am Commander Yardley Bailey. I am a Coast Guard Reserve Officer that has been on active duty and worked with the Admissions Office at the Coast Guard Academy since January 2010. I have been primarily involved in the area of Diversity and Outreach and have visited schools in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky, Louisiana, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, and Maryland. For fall 2013/spring 2014 I will be working throughout the United States to find the best and most diverse applicants possible.
I have been a member of the U. S. Coast Guard Reserve for 35 years. I began my Coast Guard career as an enlisted member and attained the rank of Chief Petty Officer. Later, I attended reserve OCS and accepted a reserve commission. My Coast Guard reserve career has been focused in the areas of marine safety, marine environmental response, pollution investigation, facilities inspection, barge inspections, contingency planning, and disaster response. I have responded to the 9/11 recall and numerous hurricanes including Katrina and Ike.
When not on active duty I am employed by The University of Alabama System in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. There I am the Assistant to the Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs and Director of Institutional Research. I attained all four of my college degrees from The University of Alabama. These are: B.A. in Broadcast and Film Communication; M.A. in Telecommunication and Film; M.A. in Educational Psychology; and a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology.
As you can see I have a wide range of life experiences and I love assisting prospects and applicants interested in the U. S. Coast Guard Academy. Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.
