Commander Tribolet reported aboard the Academy Law Section in July 2010. He specializes in criminal law and procedure. Prior to teaching at the Coast Guard Academy, CDR Tribolet worked at the Pacific JAG Office in Alameda, California. There he served as trial counsel in courts-martial and assisted the Department of Justice in prosecuting environmental and maritime crimes, including through service as a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney. CDR Tribolet also provided legal advice on criminal law enforcement, maritime law, environmental regulation and Coast Guard policy to commands located throughout the Pacific Area operating theater.  

Prior to serving as a judge advocate, CDR Tribolet was a marine inspector and marine investigator at Marine Safety Office San Francisco Bay. CDR Tribolet also served as a deck watch officer, boarding officer and First Lieutenant on USCGC Acushnet (WMEC 167), performing counter-drug and fisheries enforcement boardings in the eastern Pacific Ocean.
