Lieutenant Geyer earned a B.S. in Chemistry from Texas A&M University Corpus Christ (TAMUCC) in 2001. After graduation she worked as a Certified Pharmacy Technician and returned to TAMUCC to pursue a Texas teaching certificate. In the process she obtained an M.S. in Secondary Education. Shortly before she was about to receive her teaching certificate she was accepted to OCS. She reported to OCS in June of 2005 and received her commission as an Ensign 17 weeks later. After receiving her commission she served as a Command Duty Officer (CDO) at Sector New Orleans a mere several weeks after the Hurricanes Katrina and Rita ravaged the Gulf Coast. She was selected for the Academy Instructor - Chemistry graduate school program and chose to attend Texas A&M University Kingsville (TAMUK) in August of 2008 and graduated with her M.S. in Chemistry in May 2010. LT Geyer's research is education based and pertains to how students obtain information and learn General Chemistry. Specifically, her research is to find the best methods for assigning and completing homework (online or written) and which one has the greatest impact on student performance.
