LT Jared Korn, born and raised in Brooksville, Florida, graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in 2011 where he played for the Bears’ baseball team and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Government, International Relations. 

Upon receiving his commission, LT Korn reported aboard USCGC Vigorous (WMEC 627) home-ported in Cape May, New Jersey where he served as Weapons Officer, First Lieutenant. LT Korn then reported to USCGC Adak (WPB 1333) in Patrol Forces Southwest Asia where he served as Operations Officer. After returning to the States, LT Korn served successfully as the Commanding Officer of USCGC Steelhead from July 2014 to July 2016. While commanding Steelhead, out of Port Aransas, Texas, he completed operations up and down the coast of Texas and along the U.S./Mexico border, including SAR, counter-smuggling and illegal fishing, and commercial fisheries regulation. In the summer of 2016, LT Korn reported to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy to serve as an instructor within the Professional Maritime Studies department. 

LT Jared Korn has been awarded the Coast Guard Commendation Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Coast Guard Unit Commendation Ribbon, Navy Unit Commendation, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, Coast Guard Meritorious Team Commendation Ribbon, Coast Guard Commandant’s Letter of Commendation, Coast Guard “E” Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Coast Guard Overseas Service Ribbon, Coast Guard Sea Service Ribbon, Coast Guard Rifle Ribbon, and Coast Guard Pistol Ribbon.
