Petty Officer Clark has been a proud member of the Coast Guard since September, 2000. He graduated from boot camp in November of that same year and reported straight to Training Center Petaluma for ET-A School where he graduated the top of his class and was selected as the Honor Graduate for class 07-01. From there, Petty Officer Clark’s first tour of duty was isolated duty in Nome, Alaska where he was a watchstander and duty technician at LORAN Station Port Clarence.

In 2002, he was assigned as a communications technician aboard USCGC Gallatin (WHEC-721), a 378-foot High Endurance Cutter in Charleston, South Carolina, where he completed several counter-drug and alien migrant interdiction deployments in the Caribbean. From 2005-2007 Petty Officer Clark served a brief tour as a LORAN watchstander at Navigation Center Alexandria, Virginia. Following that, he made a short move to the Telecommunications Information Systems Command in Alexandria, Virginia where he was a Project Manager for the System Support Branch from 2007-2009 and specialized in VHF and HF communications.

In 2009, Petty Officer Clark was selected for the Advanced Computer and Engineering Technology (ACET) Program and spent the next two years attending Trident Technical College in Charleston, South Carolina. He graduated magna cum laude in 2011 with an Associate of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. Since then, he has been part of the Professional Maritime Studies Division at the Coast Guard Academy where he helps operate and maintain the Ship Command and Navigation Training System (SCANTS).
