Voyage Update
28 July 2009
Winds: Southwesterly at 15 knots
Seas: 4 feet
The class of 2013 is aboard Eagle and enjoying a few days at sea and away from Chase Hall. Although it is foggy and a bit cold, the swabs are getting used to life underway, quickly learning the routine of watches, scullery duty, meals, sleeping while moving, and eating as much as possible in a short amount of time.
Eagle is sailing in the Gulf of Maine, endeavoring to show the swabs how a Coast Guard cutter works, from engine to bridge and every step in between. The class of 2011 are doing a great job stepping into a leadership role while ensuring their swabs remain safe and enthusiastic.
Eagle's crew is winding down a busy summer training season, which featured the departure and arrival of shipmates, thousands of miles steamed, and endless work ensuring the ship is "always ready" for whatever conditions she faced. Portland, Maine calls, and we are making 5 knots under top'gallant gear towards the Maine coast....

Do you have what it takes?
Incoming cadets spend one memorable week of the summer aboard Eagle. Then, after the completion of their first year at the Academy, they are aboard for three weeks of Eagle's international voyage.
Consider the possibilities and your future aboard this one-of-a-kind vessel.  Apply today!
