I am Cadet 3/c Kevin Subramanian. I have lived in five states: Hawaii, Texas, Michigan, Connecticut, and New Jersey. I am a big sports fan, especially the teams of Philadelphia. I enjoy going to sporting events here at the Academy, and I try to be the loudest and most enthusiastic fan.
My parents are both immigrants from India, and my brother and I are first-generation Americans. My brother, Larry (22), graduated from the United States Coast Guard Academy in 2011, and is now stationed on the USCGC Midgett, a 378-foot cutter in Seattle.
Before coming to the Academy, I played soccer and violin. I ran the 800 meter in track and field, which I did all four years of high school. At the Coast Guard Academy, I am on the boxing team and the B-Side ice hockey team.
I have always wanted to be in the military. I attended AIM at the Academy, which solidified that this was the place for me. I love this country, and I cannot wait to go out into the fleet and serve.
