My name is Meredith Anderson, and I am a freshman here at the Coast Guard Academy. I am originally from a small town in upstate New York called Ontario. My mother is an educational administrator, and my father is a real estate broker, and I am an only child. I graduated from an all girls Catholic high school in 2010, with an appointment to the Academy.
Here at the Academy, I have gotten involved with CASA (Cadets Against Sexual Assault), MUN (Model United Nations), St. Francis DeSales Society (Catholic Club), Bowling Club, Swimming, and anticipate doing Water Polo in the spring.
I have a full course load, as does pretty much everyone else here at the Academy. My schedule includes Macroeconomics, Chemistry, Nautical Science, Principles of Fitness and Wellness, Swimming, Bears, Calculus 2, and English. All of the professors here are awesome, and make it really manageable.
Not only are all the professors here awesome, but so are the people who surround you. Everyone is willing to help anyone, and anyone will drop what they are doing to help you. It’s such a great environment to be in, and I consider myself really lucky to be here as a member of the class of 2014.
If you have any questions about anything, I can be emailed at Meredith.M.Anderson@uscga.edu.
