Hello! My name is Savanna Fordham! I’m from Monroe, Washington. I graduated from Monroe High School in 2013 and began my Coast Guard career on July 1st, 2013.
I grew up in a family with absolutely no military lifestyle. My mom is a teacher and my dad is a yacht captain. It was aboard his vessel that I not only discovered the Coast Guard but my love of the sea and being on it! Growing up on boats was definitely a big factor in my decision to apply to this Academy and the Coast Guard as a branch of service. (And maybe “The Guardian” was a bit of an influence as well.)
I heard about the Academy my junior year while doing a project for school about college selection. I visited the spring of my senior year – four months after I received the phone call of acceptance – and discovered how perfect it was for me.
After a terribly difficult Swab Summer I have re-developed a passion for this place that I now will call my home for the next four years. If you have any questions feel free to email me at Savanna.L.Fordham@uscga.edu and I will get back to you as soon as I can!
