Hey guys! My name is Kyle Lynn Sutschek but I go by Kyle. I am from a suburb of Chicago called Park Ridge. My parents still live there with my little brother, who is starting high school this year. I also have a younger sister who is a freshman at a small liberal arts college. My family enjoys doing outdoor activities such as skiing, canoeing, camping, as well as biking along the Chicago waterfront. This is part of the reason why I am a Marine and Environmental Science major at the Academy.
I started looking into the Academy after talking to a family friend who had been an officer in the Navy. She suggested looking into academies so I applied to AIM the summer before I reported. It went well enough that I knew I could make it through Swab Summer!
I can’t say that I’ve loved every minute of my experience here, but I have enjoyed the overall experience thus far. I discovered during 4/c year that I am not inclined to be an engineer so I switched to MES. The classes are not easier but I am much happier studying about marine biology rather than static engineering principles… Apart from academics, I play rugby and I throw on the track team.
Last year had plenty of challenges mentally, physically, and emotionally. It’s not for everyone, as many of my classmates found out last year. So if you have any questions about any aspect of the Academy, feel free to email at Kyle.L.Sutschek@uscga.edu.
Best of luck!
