My name is Lili Simon, and I am a 3/c cadet (sophomore) here at U.S. Coast Guard Academy. I hail from Las Vegas, Nevada. That being said, I’m sure you’re thinking ‘Do they even have water in Nevada?’ I am here to tell you that as a matter of fact there is water in the battle born state that I call home.
I’m a Government major with a concentration in Public Policy and Law, and thus far I absolutely love it! While academics are my first priority, I also take time to enjoy the various clubs that are offered here at the USCGA. I’m a coxswain for the women’s rowing team (side note, we had our first regatta of the fall season yesterday, and my boat took first place in the women’s open 4 division—my teammates and I were all very excited with this finish!). I’m also involved in Jewish Hillel Club, Women’s Leadership Council, Mock Trial, and Cadets Against Sexual Assault (CASA).
My blog will focus on cadet life here at the Academy, so you can have a perspective of what life is like here in good ol’ New London! I would love to answer any questions that you may have about the Academy and the application process, the clubs that I am involved in, or my Government major. Please don’t hesitate to send me an email if you have any questions at Lillian.J.Simon@uscga.edu.
