My name is Alex Kloo and I am from Manasquan, New Jersey. I went to a magnet high school on Sandy Hook called the Marine Academy of Science and Technology where I participated in NJROTC, scuba club, and the National Ocean Sciences Bowl. I first heard about the Coast Guard Academy because it is a popular choice at my school.
I am a Marine Environmental Sciences major with a focus on Chemistry, and undecided between a second focus on Physical Oceanography or Biology. I have always had an interest in science and the MES major is a great fit.
As for athletics, I row for the CGA crew team. I had never rowed before, but now this is one of my favorite parts of life here. I enjoy rowing because it pushes you both mentally and physically. It is a fantastic sport and something I plan to do long into the future.
Overall, I find the Coast Guard Academy to be an incredibly rewarding and challenging place. The opportunities here are truly outstanding, and I can picture myself nowhere else. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at Alexander.K.Kloo@uscga.edu.
