One of the more time intensive activities for USCGA cadets is the passionate pursuit of sports and leisure interests. The Academy has an active campus culture with an emphasis on academics, professional training, character development and physical health and wellness. Both of the latter are served well by cadets' dedication to their sports and leisure clubs and activities.
Club sports are not included in the USCGA Varsity Athletics program (NCAA/ECAC/NEWMAC). All club sports currently receive oversight from the Commandant of Cadets Division and primarily receive NAF funding from the Cadet Activities Fund, the Alumni Association and the Parents’ Association. Club sports engage in high level inter-collegiate competition and enjoy the support of faithful fans. Club sports are primarily cadet-led with the oversight of a volunteer faculty or staff advisor/coach and are a vibrant and spirited athletic addition to the cadet culture.
In addition to the club sports the cadets also engage in various inter-company sports (intramurals) and leisure activities and interests (below is a sampling).
