Hey everyone! Thank you for reading my blog! I think that the best part of Academy life is the friends you meet through sports, so that’s what I’ll be writing about!
I am a water polo player here at the Academy, and I absolutely love it. I swam for years in high school, and also played polo. Once I got to the Academy, I decided I would just play polo, and I’ve had a blast! I’ve made great friends, and gotten to know lots of the upper-class, which is also a pretty valuable thing as a 4/c.
The season here actually just finished, and it was quite a journey. I was lucky enough to travel with the team for every tournament. Nothing beats the weekend tournaments! The Academy pays for your hotel and food, and it’s great time not be at school. Upper-class, who are usually all “Mr Last Name, sir” change to first name basis, and it’s a great time. The team this year played quite well, with a really fast group of guys, and a bunch of my fellow 4/cs with previous experience. Naturally, we all became best friends.
For championships, we headed up to Maine, to Bowdoin College. We played well, and though we lost the first game, we won the next three, playing our best in weeks. It was actually snowing up there, so being from Southern California, I rarely see that.
We’re progressing into the offseason now, with lots of lifting, but also lots of focusing on studies and the most important thing, sleeping. Can’t wait for next season! If anyone has any questions, especially about CGA water polo, feel free to email me at
