School CAN Be Fun

(Academics, Just for Fun, Class of 2014) Permanent link   All Posts
Ali Stinner Wow… midterms are already looming over the horizon! This semester is flying by, primarily because I can finally take Marine and Environmental Sciences specific classes – marine biology and meteorology. I’ve found that the labs are particularly unique. We have taken several field trips to areas such as Waterford Beach and Fisher’s Island to study estuaries and oyster farms. I’ve snacked on clams during marine bio labs, and I’ve built and analyzed upper air charts in meteorology. These classes are so enjoyable that I find that I am unaffected by the often heavy workload.

I’ve also been participating in cheerleading and diving. Juggling schoolwork and two sports definitely has its challenges, but the community here is so supportive and helpful. I know there is always someone I can turn to for help in any subject, be it a troublesome physics problem or a complicated lab report. The faculty, too, is unbelievably accessible, and they often make time in their busy schedules to host review sessions or offer their help. I certainly look forward to what the rest of this semester will bring!
