Opportunities

(The Cadet Experience, Class of 2013) Permanent link   All Posts
Alexandria Fell Cadets like to complain a lot about “cadet life” and I have to admit, I enjoy complaining at times, too. I mean who doesn’t? However as a cadet, we sometimes get so bogged down in our own lives and Academy life that we don’t always see the big picture.

In all honesty, I don’t have that much to complain about. Yes, it is a lot of hard work and you have to deal with a lot of rules changes and stupid little things that don’t always make a lot of sense, but overall I can’t complain. In return for all your hard work, the Academy gives you opportunities that you would never get anywhere else.

For example, during the summer of 2010, it was our first experience on Eagle. Basically we spent six weeks on this old sailing ship that not a lot of people get to spend time on. We sailed around the Caribbean for six weeks. During that time, we were able to climb the rigging, set the sails, and actually sail the ship.
