My name is Rachel Burchill and I grew up on a tiny island off the coast of Japan called Okinawa! You may have heard of it through world history or watching Karate Kid. The ocean surrounded me all my life until I moved before my senior year of high school to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. That didn’t stop me from coming here though. Growing up as a military brat, I couldn’t imagine my life at a civilian college or at a school where I didn’t know half of my classmates, so USCGA was the place for me.
Having a retired Air Force father who served enlisted for 20 years really motivates me every day to keep my head up. It gets tough at times here, but I just think of the pay-off. I’m excited for all the neat experiences I will get in my time at CGA.
Backpacking, running, and any type of adventurous activities are just some of the things I like to do when I have free time because being outdoors simply makes me happy! I’ll have the pleasure to be a part of the cross country team this fall. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, I’m more than happy to answer them at Rachel.K.Burchill@uscga.edu.
