A variety of programs are offered to help you make an informed decision, whether you are just starting your college search, or nearly done. Review the information below to understand which programs are best for you.
Brief and Tour: Held on most Mondays and Fridays, this is an introduction to the Academy, admission process, and campus. Starting at 1 p.m. with a one-hour briefing and question and answer session, the day finishes with a one-hour cadet-led campus tour. (Open for public registration)
Bears Day: This day-long visit is for high school juniors and seniors, open for public registration. Shadow a cadet to explore first hand if the Academy is right for you. Attend classes, sports practice, and club activities. Parents are invited to meet with Admissions staff after check-in for a question and answer session. (Open for public registration)
Science, Technology, and Engineering Program (STEP): This day-long program on October 25th is for women only and on February 10th is for underrepresented minority and first generation students only! Learn what it’s like to attend a service academy; meet female cadets; and discover how science, math and engineering majors can open doors for you. The program features an Academy overview, cadet panels and one-on-one time, and hands-on experience in the classroom and labs.
Academy Introduction Mission (AIM): This six-day summer program, held each July, is for high school students getting ready to start their senior year. Application is due by April 1st of your junior year in high school. Visit www.uscga.edu/AIM to learn more. Need-based scholarships may be available.
Cadet for a Day (Overnight): Held in September through December, this 24-hour overnight is for high school seniors, by invitation. Shadow a cadet to explore first hand if the Academy is right for you. Attend classes, sports practice, club activities, and study hour, and then spend the night in Chase Hall. Parents are invited to meet with Admissions staff after check-in for a question and answer session. (Open for public registration)
Academy Experience Program (AEP): Held between January and April, this is a comprehensive orientation for appointees and parents. Join future members of your class, current cadets and staff to understand the expectations, challenges and rewards of cadet life, with emphasis on preparation for Swab Summer. Participants will enjoy meeting future classmates and depart well prepared for Reporting-In Day.
Genesis Invitational: This is a two-day program, by invitation, for underrepresented and first generation students. Offered in the fall, participants will learn what it’s like to attend a service academy. Tour, attend class, participate in workshops, and optionally take the Physical Fitness Exam (required for admission). Discover what the Coast Guard family is all about! Academy Enlisted Service Opportunity Program (AESOP): This two-day program is for enlisted personnel considering the Academy. Can I keep my car? How is my pay affected? Meet other enlisted personnel who have made the transition, and hear from the Company Chiefs and the Command Enlisted Advisor. (Contact your Admissions Officer for more information)
For Educators: Educator and Influencer Summit (EIS): Held each spring and fall, this two-day visit equips and inspires counselors, AP coordinators, college advisors and members of community-based organizations with the knowledge and resources needed to advise their students. Expenses are covered by the Academy.
