"Mycoremediation: Use of Fungi to Restore Contaminated Environments"

Abstract: Ongoing research sponsored by the Coast Guard is assessing the use of saprophytic fungi to degrade polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) contamination in soils collected from a remote former LORAN Station located on Kure Atoll, Northwest Hawaiian Islands. This talk provided some general background information on the mycoremediation technology being developed as well as some initial information on the ongoing experiments.
