A native of Alexandria, Virginia, Lieutenant Norberg graduated from the United States Coast Guard Academy in 2008, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine and Environmental Science. He is currently an instructor in the Professional Maritime Studies Department at the United States Coast Guard Academy.  

Lieutenant Norberg is currently assigned as Navigator in USS Fitzgerald (DDG 62) as part of Carrier Strike Group 5, Destroyer Squadron 15 and Forward Deployed Naval Forces (FDNF) Yokosuka, Japan. While on board, Lieutenant Norberg operated in the Seventh Fleet AOR in support of routine security operations from Australia to Russia and responded to the Great Tohoku Earthquake of March 2011. His prior assignment was as the Communications Officer and First Lieutenant aboard USCGC Alex Haley (WMEC 39) stationed in Kodiak, Alaska, enforcing domestic and international fisheries laws in the Bering Sea, and Arctic and Pacific Oceans.  

Lieutenant Norberg’s personal awards include the Coast Guard Achievement Medal, Commandant’s Letter of Commendation ribbon, Arctic Service Medal, and various service and unit awards, also qualifying as a Surface Warfare Officer.
