Leadership Development Center
Welcome

Captain Marcille Welcome to the Coast Guard’s Leadership Development Center.  We are co-located with the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut. The LDC also has detachments in Yorktown, Virginia, and Petaluma, California. The LDC is a unique Training Center for the Coast Guard in that it serves to provide all Coast Guard members with a leadership development experience that ensures their development as a leader of character and provides them with the opportunity to enhance their command climate upon return to their unit.

The LDC staff is well skilled and prepared to provide instruction in 22 different courses,19 of which will provide the participants valuable A.C.E. credits for college. The LDC reaches out to active duty enlisted, officer, officer candidate, cadet, reserve, civilian, and auxiliary members of the Coast Guard through resident and non-resident classroom training, unit level programs, and web-based programs. These delivery strategies combine to facilitate leadership development which translates to enhanced mission performance and increased retention. In our mission-focused service, we must take the time to invest in our people and work to establish the positive command climate that will serve as a force multiplier to ensure mission success.

I encourage you to seize every opportunity to invest in yourself and in those you lead. We stand ready to assist in every way to develop every Guardian into a leader and we are prepared to assist each Command as they strive to improve and enhance the Command Climate at their unit.

Command Philosophy: Work Hard. Be Nice. Know Your Craft.
