Commander Gregory Hall
Associate Professor of Science
Commander Gregory Hall’s research interests include environmental forensics focusing on the weathering of petroleum and the characterization of dissolved organic matter in estuaries and ballast water.
CDR Hall served as Communications Officer and later Operations Officer aboard USCGC Spar (WLB 403) in Portland, Maine and the Hazardous Materials Response Officer at Marine Safety Office Portland, Maine. CDR Hall joined the faculty of USCGA in 1998 and was selected to the Permanent Commissioned Teaching Staff (PCTS) in 2000. In addition to his duties as the Chemistry Section Chief, he serves as an Associate Professor at the United States Coast Guard Academy, teaching several courses in the Science Department including Toxicology and Marine Pollution. CDR Hall is a Program Committee member, and the Editor of the Proceedings of the International Oil Spill Conference.
Commander Hall earned a B.S. (with Honors) in Marine Science from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and a M.S. and Ph.D. in Chemistry from Tufts University.
